In My Own Words...

CRAZY. The one word no one wants to hear when the x-rays & MRI come back normal, but you still cannot run because the pain you feel is crippling.

Several round of specialists and no one could find any thing wrong with my knee. Refusing to accept 'crazy' for an answer, that's how I met my chiropractor.

CANCER. The one word no one wants to hear, especially not about your only living grandfather when you're in chiropractic school 6 hours away.

My grandfather's cancer diagnosis was my first personal experience that healthy, active people who never smoke, drink alcohol, or do drugs get cancer too.

CAMPING. The one word no one expects to consider to make their chiropractic internship a reality. To learn more about the struggles my grandfather and other cancer patients faced, I moved to Tulsa for my chiropractic internship to live in a camper outside Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).

By day I helped cancer patients receive chiropractic care. By night I ate dinner with them in the dining hall, explored the walking trails with them, and learned to crochet in the CTCA atrium. You will never truly understand the value of life until you have walked beside someone who recognizes their life is coming to an end.

COMMITMENT. The word that is essential to making the most of each day. Commitment to your health: what you eat, how you exercise, what you think about yourself, and how you achieve your dreams.

The patients at Cancer Treatment Centers of America taught me EVERY DAY is a blessing and every choice about your health matters.
